1 Shoe, 3 Ways: Crocodile Platform Sneakers

1 Shoe, 3 Ways: Crocodile Platform Sneakers

Hey all! One of my personal fashion challenges has always been styling one specific item of clothing in more ways than the obvious. When I was younger, I stuck pretty strongly to the “sneakers with jeans, heels with dresses” mentality. It’s taken me awhile to unwind my aggressively midwest sense of fashion and even now it can be a struggle. No insult to my fellow midwesterners, but let’s be real: we love our boxes. So much so that if there isn’t a box to be in, we might draw one— because, well, it’s a little more comfortable this way!

Since I love a good challenge, I decided to see if I could style one pair of shoes with three outfits that all had completely different vibes. I picked these super cute white platform sneakers that we just got in because they're springy and patterned without being over-the-top. When I first saw them I was drawn to them because they effortlessly combine style and comfort for a chic yet wearable shoe. I love the subtle crocodile print with the small snakeskin accent on the back of the heel! These aren’t quite chunky sneakers but they still have a pretty thick sole, perfectly on-trend for spring, and the stripe on the side pulls the look together with a hint of sportiness.

I linked everything I'm wearing, or as close to it as I could find. These are not sponsored links, I just wanted to help you guys out!

Girl Next Door

As a college student in Wisconsin, one of the first signs of spring was the day when the temperature jumped and all of a sudden my entire campus was swarming with sundresses. There's something so flirty and fun about a sundress, which is why I had to include it for these spring looks! The white on the sneakers combined with the mauve dress is a great way to bring in muted tones without losing the bright, springy vibe. I also love pairing sneakers with this dress instead of sandals or heels because it keeps the whole look a little more casual.

Timeless Everyday

There's nothing more classic than a simple white button-up on denim. The sneakers give a little extra attitude but the softened color palette and subtle prints really add a nice polish to this everyday look. I chose the raw hem denim because it's also a little rougher than a classic jean, which also helps to compliment the edgy crocodile print on the sneakers. Can I also just add how much I love that high-waisted jeans are still in style? Let me tell you, even if they go out of style I'll keep thrifting them until they're back. There's no way I'm going to put myself through wearing early 2000s-esque low rise jeans ever again!

Festival Realness

It's almost spring which means it's almost festival season! Festival fashion is so fun because you get to wear all the stuff in your closet that's maybe a little too extra for everyday. Also let's be real here though. Instagram festival fashion might be mostly mesh and chains and a lot of skin, but the rest of us need to have a comfortable and functional, yet still edgy look! I absolutely love t-shirt dresses because well, it's like wearing a giant t-shirt which is arguably the most comfortable thing ever (tell me I'm wrong).

This graphic t-shirt dress really brings out the edginess of the sneaker. The accent colors on the sneaker compliment the colors of the graphic, giving this a really simple, pulled together look. I know sheer socks seem sort of useless, and they are, but they also look really cute so... I accessorized with sunnies and a tiny bag because those are both festival essentials!
